During 1888 most of the government was male and only males were allowed to work. So the women of Canada decided to stand up. Soon they created the WCTU or the woman's christian temperance union. The goal was to ban the sale of alcohol because most of them were losing their houses due to it. Under the leadership of Letitia Youman the WCTU became the largest women’s organization of Canada. Most were white middle aged woman protesting,
