Representatives from Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and New brunswick were planning to meet to discuss a Maritime Union. When the news of this meeting reached Canada, Sir John A. Macdonald and other leaders asked to attend. The conference was held in Charlottetown. Charlottetown Was the first of three meetings held to debate about confederation. They discussed of a formal Union.
