Roger L. Easton-
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a United States of America space-based radio navigation system that provides reliable positioning, navigation, and timing services free of charge and 24/7 to civilian users around the world.
It was originally called the Navstar Global Positioning System. The reason for its creation at first was for military uses such as guided missiles, in addition to monitoring tests vetoed by the 1963 Nuclear Test Ban Treaty.
