29 mayo 1941 año - Strike

Descripción:

Because Pinocchio and Fantasia didn't do well, Walt laid off some employees, cut his worker's salaries and he would often treat his employees badly while still taking credit for their work. With the move to Burbank, a hierarchy was implemented that exacerbated the situation.

Employees began joining the Screen Cartoonist's Guild and demanded Walt unionize the studio. He refused and fired 16 employees who had joined the Screen Cartoonist's Guild. In response to this, over 200 of his animators went on a five week strike where Walt's effigy was hanged and then beheaded.

With the public mostly on the side of the strikers, Walt took a trip to South America in an attempt to let things cool down. While there, he learned that his father, Elias, had died.

When he returned, he signed a deal with the National Labor Relations Board that would bring equal pay and the fired union employees back.
