The Ustalavic nobleman, Count Aldus Aldon Canter of Vieland, finally returns home from an extended journey to Osirion and the depths of Garund after being thought lost for three years. He soon begins giving lectures on foreign philosophies and mystical means of achieving magical power. Later that same year, he and his students form the Esoteric Order of the Palatine Eye.
