Signed in the Palace of Versaille in France, this treaty marked the end of WWI. The terms of the treaty were negotiated by the great powers of the war. It included the U.S., Britain, Italy, and France. Some wanted the punishment for Germany to be very severe, while the other half didn't want it to be too extreme. Germany unwilling signed the treaty, even though they believed it was unfair, because they knew it was necessary. Its significance was huge, as it decided WWI was over. It also caused lasting repercussions throughout Germany for many years.
