1 mayo 1848 año - Revolutions of 1848
Descripción:
The Revolutions of 1848, aka the Springtime of Nations, was a widespread series of rebellions against monarchy, imperialism, and sometimes even capitalism itself. Revolutions affected France, Italy, Germany, Poland, and Hungary prominently, and there was also unrest caused by the Chartist movement in Britain. The Revolution only really succeeded in France, where the constitutional kingdom of Louis-Philippe was replaced with a moderate republic, which eventually elected Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte as president, who eventually declared the second French Empire as Napoleon III. Unrest in Hungary nearly toppled Austrian rule there, until Russian troops were able to come to the assistance of the beleaguered Habsburg military. These revolutions were fundamental in shaping European politics going forward, as while they do signal the end of the post-Napoleonic revolutionary unrest, they also convince most major powers of the necessity of some measure of liberalizing reforms.
