1 ene 1827 año - Lindenwood University founded
Descripción:
Mary Easton Sibley and her husband George Champlin Sibley founded a school in 1827 when they moved to St. Charles, MO. In 1931 a small log cabin was built at Linden Wood and began accepting boarding students. Lindenwood College (now Lindenwood University) would become the first women's college west of the Mississippi River. Sibley welcomed a diversity of students including many immigrant students from Germany, and for a time taught both free Blacks and enslaved African Americans before pressure among slave-holding Missourians forced her to stop.
