Inlandsbanan AB, together with Statkraft, has initiated a feasibility study to investigate infrastructure and logistics for hydrogen production in inland sweden and to investigate hydrogen operation for existing diesel-powered railway vehicles. Hydrogen-powered fuel cells are a possible sustainable and long-term solution for operation on the Inlandsbanan, which lacks the possibility of wired electrical operation.
