who?-Debated by congressmen on what to do about entering Missouri into the Union.
what?- the Missouri Compromise was the compromise that states, to balance the admittance Missouri, Maine needed to be entered as a free state, no slavery should be in the Louisiana purchase or North of the 36'30 line, but South of the line slavery could exist.
when?- 1820
where?- decided in congress
why important?- the Missouri Compromise was important because it was one of the early signs that slavery was going to create major problems. Its also an example of how instead of handling the problem of slavery, congress just tries to "balance it out".
