Founder of Cytogenetics, the study of genetic material, or Chromosomes. Walther Flemming was a German anatomist and was the first person to observe and document the behaviour of chromosomes during cell division. He also is the one who named complete cell division mitosis. He was not fully appreciated until the rediscovery of Gregor Mendel’s work.
