The Treaty of Versailles officially ended World War 1. Signed on July 28, 1919, was mainly written by the Allies. It did not create peace and ultimately left Germany feeling cheated and blamed. This feeling of resentment was a main cause of Hitler’s rise to power, and eventually World War 2.
