5 h 48 m, 9 mar 1862 año - U.S.S. Monitor Vs. C.S.S. Virginia
Mar. 9th, 1862
Descripción:
This battle, although not particularly deadly or pivotal in the war itself, played a massive role in global warfare. The battle took place between two brand new metal gunships, powered by steam and coal only, no wooden hull and masts, no lateen sails. These boats could move quickly and were very advanced, equipped with the newest weapon technology. After this battle, the world hardly saw any more wooden ships used in battle, and the world turned to steam powered metal gunships for military endeavors. The Union and Confederacy had changed the game of maritime technology forever.
