19 jul 1848 año - Seneca Falls Convention

Descripción:

This was the first ever woman's rights convention in the United States, pulling forth almost 200 women to attend. This convention was organized by Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott. The first day was for women only, the second day was for the general public. This took place at the Wesleyan Chapel and they called for U.S. women to organize and petition for their rights after giving the Declaration of Sentiments and Grievances. The Convention was prone to public ridicule and some women backed out. This marked the beginning of the women's suffrage movement.
