The Crystal palace was gebouwd in Victoriaanse stijl en bestond uit hout, gietijzer en glassegmenten. De constructie was mogelijk gemaakt door de industriële revolutie en de vooruitgang in de metaalproductie.

Op 30 november 1936 brandde The Crystal palace volledig uit. Crystal Palace is daarna nooit meer herbouwd.
