31 agos 593 año aC - Zedekiah visits Nebuchadnezzar

Descripción:

In the 4th year of his 11 year reign.
Perhaps emboldened by the false message of Hananiah (Jer 28) that within 2 years, the yoke of Babylon would be broken from Judah's neck, he visits Nebuchadnezzar in Babylon!
He took with him Seraiah the Priest, but unfortunately for Zedekiah, the message against Babylon was true.
Jeremiah had told Seraiah that Babylon would come to an end and its power tossed into the Euphrates 'like a stone' and sink. (Jer 51/59) This was Gods message, but unfortunately for Zedekiah, he couldn't tell a false prophet from a true one.
God did not provide a time span for the breaking of the yoke and within 2 months, Hananiah was dead.
Nebuchadnezzar didn't take too kindly to Zedekiah telling him his end was near so he set up a seige against Jerusalem only 5 years later until Jerusalem was taken and the Temple and walls destroyed.
