- The Indian Press Act of 1910 was implemented to limit the influence of English and Indian vernacular languages in promoting Indian nationalism
- The act gave the British the power to imprison and execute anyone who wrote radical articles in newspapers.
- The act also gave local governments the power to:
* Demand a security fee for any "offensive content" against the government
* Issue warrants against any newspaper or book that contained seditious matters
* Suppress seditious or objectionable newspapers, books, or other documents
