4 feb 1945 año - Yalta Conference

Descripción:

The Yalta conference took place in Yalta, a city on the southern tip of Crimea from February 4th, 1945 to February 11th, later that month. The Yalta conference was to plan the world after the war was over. One key issue was what would happen to Poland after the war. At this point, the Soviets drove the Germans out of Poland. The Soviets encouraged Polish Communists to form a communist government. However, there was disagreement to this, and there was a rise of a non-Communist government. FDR and Churchill thought that the Polish people should be free to decide. However, Stalin stated that every time invaders had tried to invade Russia from the west, they had moved through Poland. Eventually, Roosevelt and Churchill agreed to recognize the Polish government set up by the Soviets. Stalin agreed it would include members of the prewar Polish government and free elections. This conference was significant, because the post-war plans were all laid out in this conference.
