The American Woman’s Suffrage Association was originally put in place by Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B Anthony. It was made due to the split that came among suffragists over whether or not they should support the 15th amendment. This association did not think that they should support the amendment because it still gave no rights to women to be able to vote. So, those in this party such as Susan B. Anthony continued to fight for their right to vote and this would even lead to her being arrested in 1878 for voting illegally.
