6 mayo 1882 año - Chinese Exclusion Act
Descripción:
Around the time of the California gold rush, many Chinese immigrants had started coming to the United States, along with immigrants from all over the world. Because of this, there was a rise in nativism and the fear that jobs were being given mostly to immigrants, in this case Chinese immigrants, because they would accept lower wages. As work became more and more scarce, labor groups pressured the government to limit Asian immigration. In 1882, Congress closed the door to Chinese immigration with the Chinese Exclusion Act and it lasted until 1943 when it was repealed.
