The September 11, 2001 attacks were a series of four terrorist attacks by al-Qaeda on the morning of September 11. Terrorists hijacked four different planes in mid-flight. They flew two of the planes into skyscrapers, another destroyed part of the Pentagon, and the fourth crashed in Pennsylvania. The attacks killed 2,996 and injured over 6,000 others. Nowadays, in New York City stands the World Trade Center Memorial.
