The emancipation proclamation by president Lincoln declared all slaves in states still in rebellion to be free as of January 1st, 1863.
This did not include slaves in the border states that had remained in the Union or slaves in the parts of the Confederate states already occupied by the Union.The outcome of this event was that Few slaves were actually freed because there was no immediate effect because the Confederate States did not act on Lincoln’s order.The significance of this event is that
Lincoln’s proclamation would be the Federal Government’s 1st official step toward the abolition of human slavery.
