If we are to achieve more from the built environment, it essential that we better understand the information required in its planning, design, construction and management.
This information needs to be able to be shared and aggregated in a way that is effective, resilient and secure. This is critical not only for improving the way we deliver new built assets and manage them through their lifecycle, but also for meeting other requirements such as carbon reduction and climate resilience.

Following on from the Pathway toward an Information Management Framework, this document introduces an objective approach to identifying information requirements by analysing activities and outlines two general process models – a Built Asset System lifecycle and a periodic process lifecycle – to support the management of information for any large system of people, organisations, assets and, crucially, the activities in which they are involved.
