On June 25th, 1940 France surrenders to the Axis. Northern France becomes under German control, while Southern France becomes a puppet government. Southern France was led by French people, whose government was loyal to the Nazis.
The Fall of France was very important, because up until this point, Nazi Germany never defeated a world power. The quick surrender of France showed the world how powerful the Germans were.
