Signed by President Herbert Hoover, the Smoot-Hawley Tariffs was a law that implemented protectionists trade policies in the US on many imported goods (20k).
The tariffs under the act were the second-highest in US history and probably worsened the already bad financial and economic crisis the European Continent was going through.
