In North Africa, Germany establishes fortifications to defend from an impending an Allied invasion. Unfortunately for Rommel’s army, Axis defenses crumble under Allied fire.

According to a website that I was on, after Rommel had expressed his worry over the army’s annihilation, Hitler had ordered Rommel to “stand and die.” Two days later Hitler changed his mind, but after that day I can see Rommel, unlike Hitler, had not changed his mind about poisoning his boss.

Anyway, this is relevant to the war because even Hitler himself had to come face-to-face with the fact that Germany could be forced to retreat.
