1 ene 1904 año - J.J Thomson's Plum Pudding Model
Descripción:
Through an investigation with the cathode ray, Thomson proved that cathode rays were particles and therefore discovered the existence of electrons. Atoms therefore are not indivisible as Dalton hypothesised—there are subatomic positively and negatively charged particles. This enabled him to propose the Plum Pudding model:
Each atom is a sphere with positively charged fluid. Corpuscles (later called electrons) are negatively charged particles suspended in the fluid.
Limitations:
- There was no experimental evidence to support.
- Failed to explain how positive charge holds negatively charged electrons, so thus cannot explain the stability of the atom.
- Does not predict the movement of electrons
