Descripción:

- Began with the Canadians pushing German forces towards Ortona, expecting no resistance upon arrival

- However, upon accomplishing that task, the Canadians found that they got more than they bargained for.

- They (the Canadians) soon discovered that they received much more than they bargained for. The German forces did not surrender as expected, instead, it appeared that they had planned for this all along.

- The Canadians had not been trained to deal with street battles, and soon found that using the the main streets was suicide

- They soon came up with a strategy to circumvent the problem

- The building in Ortona were typically adjoining, so the Canadian troops moved through the building, avoiding the streets altogether.

- It was a deadly game, often times the German engineers had rigged explosives to explode at the support beams of the buildings, leading to a collapse onto the soldiers, however, the Canadians managed to persevere, and in the end emerged victourious

- This battle was ultimately a testament to the ingenuity of the Canadian troops, and the lengths that they would go for their allies
