1 ene 1190 año - רמב׳׳ם – מורה נבוכים
Descripción:
1190 - ראשונים
In a time when Jews were straying from religious observance and studying secular philosophy, רמב׳׳ם wrote מורה נבוכים to cocunter secular philosophy. What made מורה נבוכים unique was how רמב׳׳ם presents his arguments; he draws on secular thought and other religions as sources, specifically Aristotle and Muslim philosophers, but did not hesitate to expose fallacies in their arguements to support his own. This work was highly controversial and was banned and burned in many communities.
About the Author: ר׳ משה בן מאמון, or רמב׳׳ם, is considered one of the most famous and important rabbis throughout all of Jewish history, even being compared to משה רבינו. Although he fled Spain for Egypt at age 12, רמב׳׳ם considered himself a Spanish Jew and his works were directed towards the Spanish Jewish community. While he was a doctor for the Egyptian rulers in Cairo, רמב׳׳ם was still extensively engaged in תורה through writing commentaries on the תורה, משנה and גמרא and responding to letters from many foreign communities. With this greatness came much controversy over his works, however, רמב׳׳ם is still one of the most highly respected authorities in הלכה until today.
