1 mar 1966 año - Venera 3 Becomes the
First Object to Land
on Another Planet
Descripción:
In November 1965, a probe was launched into space by the Soviet Union, known as Venera 3. For four months, Venera 3 travelled from Earth across the vastness of space before finally entering the atmosphere of the planet Venus and crash landing on its surface on 1st March 1966.
This was the very first time a man-made object made contact with another planet. Over the following years, a number of probes would be sent to Venus by the USSR, eventually proving that the planet did not contain liquid water or support human life.
