1 jul 326 año aC - The Hyphasis Mutiny

Descripción:

Shortly after Alexander's victory at the Hydapses River, the Macedonian army expressed apprehension at crossing the Hyphasis river and marching further east. Alexander would plead with them to push on, promising them further spoils of conquest and warning them that their newly acquired lands could become unstable if they left and also reprimanded them at the idea of abandoning their king. Alexander's own motivation of pushing onward had to do with his yearning to emulate/outdo Greek mythological figures like Heracles who traveled to the ends of the earth. After a Macedonian officer named Coenus stepped forward and professed that many Macedonians were homesick, which struck a chord with the army. Ultimately, Alexander gave into his army's demands and decided not to travel further into India.
