In order to protect their territory, the Allies set up a defensive line protecting their territory from invasion of the Axis. But, the Germany decide to launch their last counter-offensive and they happened to notice a weak spot in the line. They happen to make a large bulge in the line, trapping some US troops. The US sends more troops to the bulge and push the Germans back. Then the force the Germans to retreat. Germany by now is basically destroyed because they have such a small army.
