15 oct 1972 año - Jackie Robinson
Descripción:
Jackie Robinson, the first African American baseball player, accepted an award before Game 2 of the World Series commemorating 25 years since he had started playing MLB. While accepting the award, Robinson spoke out about White MLB ownership and management and said that he would be “more proud when [he] see[s] a black face managing in baseball.” Although Robinson broke the color barrier in baseball, he believed that significant change would not happen until there were more Black people in MLB leadership. Robinson continued to push for change even after he stopped playing baseball.
