The Renaissance started in the 1350’s when the feudal system collapsed. The feudal system was the labor for land idea of government. Lords were at the top of the social structure, with serfs, as their almost servants, at the bottom. Once this system of government ended, an age of knowledge, exploration, and cultural advancements in art, architecture, and education occured. This age is known as the renaissance. Important figures of the time included Leonardo da Vinci, Galileo Galilei, Nicolaus Copernicus, and Sir Francis Bacon. The Renaissance also included the discovery of the New World to the west. This discovery increased the resources and wealth in Europe. The Renaissance lasted until about the 17th century and is viewed as a time period that connected the Middle Ages to Modern History. This time was significant as the Renaissance brought about a change in viewpoint for mankind and changed the way that people interacted that still carries on in our modern society.
