4 mar 2009 año - The first person infected by computer virus

Descripción:

Mark N. Gasson is a British scientist and visiting research fellow at the Cybernetics Research Group, University of Reading, UK. He was involved in developing Brain-Machine Interface and currently working on neuroscience and computer fields. In March 2009, he became the first person infected by a computer virus. He actually intended to transfer a computer virus to a computer implanted in a brain in one of his experiments. He surgically implanted an RFID device into his left hand. During experiments, although the main topic of the experiment wasn’t about it, he demonstrated the vulnerabilities of the technology to imply the risk of the Brain-Machine Interface.
Dr. Gasson is a supporter of the brain implants. But he is also aware of the risks. He said "With the benefits of this type of technology come risks. We may improve ourselves in some way but much like the improvements with other technologies, mobile phones, for example, they become vulnerable to risks, such as security problems and computer viruses.". In his experiment, his implant could be wirelessly infected and spread the computer virus wirelessly near him. Those technical issues and also ethical issues are the problems to be solved before the implant technology could be commercialized or popularized.
