son of Pasiphaë and the Cretan Bull. Originally named Asterius and believed to be a son of Minos, the King flies into a rage at the sight of the monster. He locks Pasiphaë in her rooms and refuses to look upon her again. The monstrosity grows quickly and ravenously. Rather than have it killed, Minos commissions Daedalus to build a massive labyrinth under the palace to contain it, and use it to his advantage. Pasiphaë curses Minos to ejaculate scorpions as revenge.
