Signed by President Lyndon Johnson the Civil Rights Act banned atrocious forms of discrimination against African Americans and women. For an example, this act prohibited discrimination in public places, added integration of schools and other public facilities, made employment discrimination illegal, and enforced the constitutional right to vote.
