In the context of telepresence art,
the duo Sherrie Rabinowitz and Kit Galloway are the pioneers and have been contributing in this field since the early 70s.. and they discovered and practiced probably all formal possibilities of being together in what they called a composite image space.

In 1975, They used a self-made experimental setup in the Sony Salon on the Champs-Elysées in Paris, after opening hours as Kit had a key. This is an early example of a LIVE composite image: they were in two different rooms and managed to create a virtual hug or kiss.

After this first experiment, the duo went on and focused on how to use telepresence to bring artists (in particular performers) and the public together while being in different part of the world.
