2 dic 2014 año - Malala Yousafzai Awarded with the Nobel Peace Prize
Descripción:
Yousafzai was living in Swat Valley, Pakistan when the Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan invaded and began attacking girls’ schools in 2008. Soon after, she gave a speech called “How dare the Taliban take away my basic right to education?”. She and her family then moved and she began blogging for the BBC about living under the Taliban’s rule. She soon had a growing platform and continued speaking out about girls and womens' rights to an education. The influence she had on people led to the Taliban threatening her life. Her family did not think that the Taliban would harm a child until she was shot three times by the Taliban on her way home from school one day.
Malala Yousafzai was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 for her persistence in fighting for children’s education rights. Although some may believe that she won it due to being shot by the Taliban, she earned this award for the work she did to guarantee the right of education to children and especially girls all around the world. Although Malala was sent death threats by the Taliban and had her family threatened as well, she did not stop advocating for her cause. She was able to bring awareness to the social and economic impacts of childrens’ education and in doing so she empowered other girls around the world to do the same. After being shot by the Taliban, she and her father founded the Malala Fund which has the goal of “creating a world where every girl can learn and lead.” For these reasons, Malala was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and she has continued to fight for girls’ education rights.
