Descripción:
British codebreakers decoded a memo from Germany asking Mexico to join their cause. Asked them to invade the mainland US. In turn, they offered to help Mexico get back the land from the Mexican Cession. Outrages Wilson, so he finally goes to congress and gets a war declaration (1917).US participation was relatively brief, and not many people died from actual combat. More died from disease.
