Jane Adams founded Hull House in Chicago. Meant to help acclimate new immigrants to the US, especially women. Wanted to use her privilege to help people. Founded another house in London. 2,000 came to Hull House a day. Taught people how to read. Also had laundry rooms, coffee house, etc. Argued the way to improve society was by helping women and children. Sort of founder of social work. Won Nobel Peace Prize Also spoke at nomination of TR. Adams also worked with the Anti Imperialist League.
