The New England Confederation was a military alliance between the four New England colonies, formed in 1643, in order to protect them from threats from the Native Americans and other conflicts. The Confederation was directed by two representatives from each colony. Although it did not last long, it set an example for future attempts at colonial cooperation and implemented the ideals of a unified nationality. It was important to the political world of the Americas at the time because most colonies had tried to deal with conflicts on their own.
