Jackson's Secretary of War John Eaton was married to Margaret Eaton. Rumor had it she was cheating on her ex husband with Eaton. Basically confirmed when she married Eaton right after he died. All the other cabinet wives refused to associate with her. Jackson tried to defend her, but to no avail. Ended in Eaton and 3 others resigning from the cabinet. Played into the Calhoun-Jackosn dispute and also proved how much power women had over politics.
