First major battle of the American Revolution; ended in colonial defeat. British army tried to take colonists' weapons in Lexington area. American militia (aka minutemen) gathered on Lexington Green and fought British forces. Pushed them back to Boston and laid siege from nearby Breed's Hill. Colonists defeated but British suffered heavy losses.
