After a long Civil War, Octavian became Augustus and assumes all the power of magistrates in the Roman government. He is the first and arguably the most successful of all Roman emperors. This was the beginning of Pax Romana (Roman peace). He ruled a peaceful, prosperous, and expanding Roman Empire until his death.
