7 nov 1811 año - Techumseh & The Battle of Tippecanoe
Descripción:
Western Americans' desires for more
land contributed to the outrage over British actions. The lands of British Canada and Spanish Florida were
desired by Americans living on the frontier. For many years, colonists had gradually been pushing the American Indians further westward. Two Shawnee brothers, Tecumseh and Prophet, attempted to unite all
tribes east of the Mississippi River in an effort to save their territory. In several battles, Tecumseh led his followers against the United States and supported the British during the 1812 War. Practically, Tecumseh's War proceeded into the War of 1812. General William Henry Harrison was convinced by
white settlers, who were suspicious of Tecumseh, took violent action when he initiated the Battle of Tippecanoe. In Indiana in 1811, the Battle of Tippecanoe was fought between American forces led by Harrison of the Indiana Territory and Indian forces linked to Shawnee chief Tecumseh and his brother Tecumseh. Harrison achieved his objective of destroying Prophetstown and declared that he had secured a decisive victory
