Japanese Americans, also motivated by the Civil Rights movement, started lobbying the U.S. government for recognition of the injustice of the internment of WWII. Although it took twenty years, Japanese Americans finally succeeded in achieving reparations for the surviving victims of internment. Approximately, 60,000 Japanese Americans were each awarded $20,000 for their internment.
