Migration to the west was booming after assumptions of manifest destiny spread. Pioneers will ride months to colonize and fulfill their American destiny via brutal trails. In the newly acquired land, they sensed a chance. The Frontier-There was a vast and unsettled terrain in the West. For the settlers, it was unknown and included mountains and deserts. Since they were on the coast, California and Oregon were the most popular destinations. White Settlers on the Western Frontier: White settlers mostly migrated west since it was a middle class movement and they sought to get land to farm and start new lives in the western frontier.
