President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated on Good Friday, April 15th, 1865. Lincoln was attending a play at Ford’s Theater as the American Civil War was coming to an end when John Wilkes Booth came up from behind him and aimed at the back of Lincoln’s head and fired at point-blank range. Booth was on the run for 12 days before getting tracked down on a farm in Virginia. After refusing to surrender, Sergeant Boston Corbett killed Booth on April 26th.
