With regard to the future Makhnovist Liberated Zone, there is no
doubt that intelligence work was already being carried out in this
region by the "Union of Poor Peasants”, in which the young Makhno
participated. In 1908 this group prepared ex's in Yekaterinoslav,
Alexandrovsk, and Nogaysk.
